A case of animal cruelty has left Las Vegas shocked as a man found several puppies thrown out in a garbage bag and covered in cleaning products. The case was quickly reported to the police, leading to an arrest.
The Animals Were Thrown Away Because Their Owner Couldn’t Care for Them
The animals were discovered on November 5 near a building on Charleston Boulevard. A man was able to hear the small animals’ cries and rushed in to help them.
A day later, Michael Grindrod, 39, the person suspected to be behind the cruel act was arrested. Authorities understood that his dog, Zoey, had given birth to nine puppies in total. The man eventually decided to keep a few and throw out the rest.
The police also understood that the man had recently lost a job and was being evicted from his residence. According to later reports, Grindrod said that he couldn’t possibly take care of all of the dogs, considering his financial situation.
Detectives spoke with one of his daughters, who said that her father had talked about getting rid of the dogs by throwing them out in a chemical-filled bag. She, however, had not been present at the act.
As mentioned, Grindrod was arrested and now faces animal cruelty charges.
The Dogs Are in Safe Hands
In the meantime, the nine dogs and their mother were rescued by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and given to The Animal Foundation. They were eventually left in the care of Wagging Tails Rescue.
Unfortunately, one of the eight puppies had to be euthanized after experts found blood in its chest. The rest, however, are expected to make a full recovery. Now called “Zoey and her Zoo,” the dogs are in safe hands.
Recent Instances of Brutal Crime
Speaking of Vegas crime, the convicted killer of a well-respected journalist just appealed his sentence. In a handwritten letter, the man, who is a former Clark County administrator, contacted the Nevada Supreme Court, insisting on his innocence. Despite the overwhelming evidence against him, the now-imprisoned convict continues to claim that he had been framed.
Elsewhere, a Thai woman brutally murdered a friend to steal her jewelry, which she used to settle a gambling debt. Described as a gambling addict, the killer also initially claimed to be innocent.
