Both Petr Yan (17-5) and Deiveson Figueiredo (24-3-1) are ex-UFC champions but in different weight classes. Yan used to be the UFC Bantamweight champ, while Figgy is a former 2-time champ in the division below.
Since moving to the 135-pound class, he’s 3-0, but UFC Macau odds suggest he’s going to lose to Yan. Should you trust the oddsmakers?

Reasons Why Petr Yan is the Favorite
Petr “No Mercy” Yan is 17-5 overall with one of his wins happening in the fight for the UFC Bantamweight title. This happened back in 2020 when he beat Jose Aldo by TKO. He lost the title to Aljamain Sterling a year later, but this was somewhat controversial – he lost the fight by disqualification for an illegal knee.
A few months later, Yan won the interim title by beating Cory Sandhagen. He then fought Aljo Sterling for the title but lost by a split decision. The same thing happened against Sean O’Malley, while his third loss in a row happened against Merab Dvalishvili by a unanimous decision.
Fans of Yan will be pleased to learn that he ended his losing run earlier this year with a unanimous decision win over Song Yadong. Another win would probably get him back in the conversation for the title. But can he beat Deiveson Figueiredo?
Deiveson Figueiredo Looking to Upset the UFC Macau Odds
Deiveson Figueiredo is a former two-time champion in the UFC, but not in his current division. That happened while he was fighting in the flyweight division (2012-2023). Since moving to bantamweight a year ago, he’s 3-0 with wins over Rob Font, Cody Garbrandt, and Marlon Vera.
In each of those fights, he utilized his wrestling skills to win. Against Font, he landed four takedowns, while suffering none. Against Garbrandt, he made one TD and two submission attempts, one of which was successful.
Finally, against Vera, he made two TDs, so even though he landed fewer significant strikes than “Chito,” he got the win. Truth be told, he did knock his opponent down once in that fight. Can he do the same against Yan?
Petr Yan vs. Deiveson Figueiredo Prediction
Petr Yan, who’s got a master of sports degree in boxing, has suffered only one knockdown in his UFC career (and no KOs), so Deiveson Figueiredo probably shouldn’t count on getting the win that way. He may try to outwrestle Yan, but that might not work too as the Russian has a TD defense of 85% and zero losses by submission.
Knowing all this, it’s clear why UFC Macau odds are favoring Yan. We completely agree he should be a strong favorite as anything but a relatively easy win for him would be a huge surprise.
