No Poker? Daniel Negreanu Talks New Podcast With Wife Amanda

Scan a podcast app or YouTube and it seems like almost every poker pro has a show or vlog about the game. Now one of the biggest names in poker is taking the opposite approach and stepping away from breaking down hands or documenting life on the circuit.

Daniel Negreanu and his wife Amanda, herself a former poker reporter, are debuting the new Mania podcast on Nov. 12.

The Poker Hall of Famer, who won his seventh WSOP bracelet this summer in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship, has run a popular YouTube channel for the last decade with nearly 900,000 subscribers, but says poker won’t be a part of the new project. Mania’s tagline on Twitter/X says the show will be “Bipolar, Bold, and Unfiltered.”

Daniel recently spoke with Card Player about what listeners can expect when tuning in.

What will listeners get from Mania?

If you have watched the vlog or some of my streams, you will know what to expect from our chemistry and banter. We both enjoy the format as a creative outlet and ultimately while I hope people enjoy it, we aren’t doing it for them, we are creating this show for us.

How did the podcast come about?

We have talked about doing this for many years and finally got around to doing it. It’s healthy for our relationship, we have great chemistry and it’s amplified on camera.

Will the show focus on poker at all?

It’s not a poker podcast. Full stop. Episode one we barely touched on the emotional aspect of losing streaks and how that affects both her and I. We aren’t going to pigeon hole the podcast and stick to a restrictive format, we plan to maybe have guests, talk about love, mental health, life, and do so with some laughs.

Are there a few aspects of the show that particularly excite you?

I think her sharing what it’s like to be bipolar, and for me, what it’s like to live with someone suffering from mental health issues will be both fun and informative, and who knows, may even help some people along the way.

Where can poker fans listen/watch?

It will be everywhere. My YouTube channel, Twitter/X, all the podcast platforms, Apple, Spotify, etc. We also plan to engage with comments from the shows and read them and react on following episodes, even the really bad and mean ones! haha
