Aussie Couple Found Dead, Police Suspects Murder Tied to Gambling Debt

Excessive gambling can lead to addiction which in turn may push people into debt. A young man, who law enforcement suspects accumulated a large gambling debt, was recently found dead together with his wife near an airport in Sydney, Australia.

Lifeless Bodies Found in a Park

Law enforcement is now looking for two or three people, suspected of killing the couple. Details regarding the chilling murders were disclosed in a report by the Daily Telegraph. The couple had been missing for more than two weeks as they were last seen at the end of November.

Initially, the woman’s body was found last week. Identified as Z.L., the female victim’s body was found wrapped in plastic by a jogger near Botany Bay’s Sir Joseph Banks Park. Police immediately launched an investigation and sought to uncover the husband as he was also missing.

The 33-year-old male’s lifeless and decomposing body was found eight days later, meters away from the woman’s body. The male victim, identified with the initials J.C., was found in a creek. The man’s body was submerged underwater and covered up with thick bushes and bulrush reeds.

Investigation Into the Criminal Case Continues

Police believe that the couple wasn’t murdered at the place they were found. So far, law enforcement is investigating the possible murder of the two at their home. The authorities suspect that after the couple was murdered, their lifeless bodies were transported with a car to the location.

While the man’s body was put near the water and covered up with bushes and weeds, the woman’s plastic-wrapped corpse was half buried. Initial investigation makes the authorities believe that the couple’s bodies had been there for a while, judging by their decomposition.

Police suspect that a silver Toyota Avensis was used to transport the bodies from the victims’ apartment to the park where they were dumped. Neither of the deceased were owners of such a vehicle and law enforcement has since uncovered the car. The couple’s place was also thoroughly searched with police seeking fingerprints or other evidence that may point to the attackers.

One of the suspected motives that is being investigated by law enforcement is that the two were killed due to gambling-related loans accumulated by the male victim. He is suspected of having racked up significant gambling debt to a loan shark who may have ordered their murder.

It is unclear how many people were involved in the murders and the disposal of the bodies. Law enforcement is investigating the possible involvement of two or three individuals who have used the vehicle and then flown to Queensland. The suspects then likely fled overseas. Currently, Australian law enforcement is also in touch with Taiwan and Chinese law enforcement in an attempt to identify the suspects for the bloody murders.
